Pakistan has asked the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to postpone a board meeting to discuss the country’s sixth review until late January, the finance ministry said.

The meeting was scheduled to take place this week on January 12 to consider the recommendation to release $ 1 billion from Pakistan’s three-year $ 6 billion program.

Pakistan is expected to pass a mid-year budget to complete the IMF-recommended fiscal tightening.

“As soon as the legislative procedures are completed, the IMF board will review it for approval,” the finance ministry said.
