LAHORE: State broadcaster Pakistani Television (PTV) did not share details of its joint venture with ARY on Pakistan Super League (PSL) broadcast rights to Lahore High Court (LHC) – despite court order, The news reported

The LHC heard on Thursday a Geo Super petition against PTV-ARY joint venture on the granting of broadcasting rights for PSL. Although PCB, PTV and ARY submitted their responses to the court, the latter two did not give details of their agreement.

Advice for Geo Super Behzad Haider said PTV did not submit tender process documents in its response despite the court order.

He said the petition was filed on January 4 and it was a fixed case, but surprisingly, PCB’s lawyer, PTV, and ARY had appeared in court without notice and argued that the application should be dismissed.

He said that when the court was informed that no tendering process had been followed when granting the rights to broadcast PSL in the PTV-ARY Okay, the public broadcaster’s lawyer said he transparently fulfilled all the prerequisites and had documents to support his claim.

When the judge insisted that you appeared without notice and where the documents are, the PTV the lawyer asked for an hour to submit the offer, draft agreement and other documents. To this, the judge gave two days to submit a response with the documents.

the Geo Super the lawyer added that he had filed a reply, a copy of which was given to PTV and ARY, but the state broadcaster did not submit its response with any documentation that included the bidding process.

“They only attached to the response two announcements which are already attached to our application,” he said.

“The announcements are on pages 14 and 15, but PTV did not present any documents despite the assertion that he would present all documents showing transparency in the tendering process, ”the lawyer said.

Haider added that when the hearing takes place on January 19, he will raise all issues in court. The lawyer said he would take the position that showing no documents indicates their dishonesty.
